Georgetown Homes

Georgetown is a historic city with amazing views and an old world feeling, from the cobblestone streets to the old colonial style row homes. The commercial areas along Wisconsin Avenue, M Street and the waterfront display a sampling of landmark buildings with a variety of architectural styles. A number of embassies including France, Sweden, Thailand, and Venezuela, among others are intermingled with local Georgetown real estate.

In addition to Georgetown University, there are a number of esteemed private schools in or near Georgetown that include Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School, National Cathedral School, and St. Albans School. The area is served by the District of Columbia Public Schools and include Hyde Elementary School, Hardy Middle School and Wilson High School.

  • Canal Square Building - Former home of The Tabulating Machine Company or IBM.
  • Riggs Bank - Famous golden dome landmark, now known as PNC Bank on the NE corner of Wisconsin Avenue and M Street NW.
  • The Chesapeake and Ohio Canal (1829)
  • The Georgetown Lutheran Church, dating back to 1914
  • Mount Zion United Methodist Church and Mount Zion Cemetary
  • The Exorcist Steps - The creepy 97-step staircase at the end of 36th Street, NW, made famous in the movie, and previously known as The Hitchcock Steps.
