Dupont Circle Real Estate

Dupont Circle is one of DC’s most cosmopolitan and progressive communities. The streets in this vibrant neighborhood are lined with bars, clubs, restaurants, boutique shops, offices, condos, and brick row homes—this is city life at its best.

Originating from a traffic circle at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue NW, Connecticut Avenue NW, New Hampshire Avenue NW, P Street NW, and 19th Street NW, Dupont Circle streets extend out like spokes on a wheel. On any given day you'll see crowds of people gathered by the Dupont Memorial Fountain in the urban park located in the center of the community. It's a popular meeting place for visitors and locals alike.

Dupont Circle Homes

Dupont Circle is somewhat of a cultural mecca, boasting Washington's largest concentration of private art galleries, as well as many historic homes and museums. Look for the refurbished Art on Call boxes; old police and fire call boxes that have been revamped by 22 local artists.

Many of the Dupont Circle homes are historic brick rowhouses influenced by the Queen Anne and Richardsonian Romanesque revival styles. At one time large mansions bordered the interior circle, but the only remaining survivor is the Patterson house, originally built for Robert Patterson, editor of the Chicago Tribune.

The historical area known as the Strivers' Section (West of 16th Street between Swann Street and Florida Avenue) consists of a number of apartments, quality condominiums, townhouses, and some remaining large homes.

Real estate in Dupont Circle is expensive. The median sold price for a house is $900,000 and a condo $365,000.

Many of the older mansions have been converted to embassies, and Dupont Circle is also known for the number of foreign diplomats living here.
